Frequently asked questions about Waxing:

  • Will the treatment hurt? Of course, everyone is different, but the first time can be uncomfortable.  Don’t worry because the more frequently you receive bikini waxes the hair will begin to grow thinner, making it easier to come out.  However, estheticians are trained professionals and will do everything possible to lessen the discomfort.
  • How should I prepare myself?  The best way to prepare yourself is to first relax and know you are in good hands.  One thing you can do to help lessen the discomfort is to avoid caffeine, as it is a stimulant and it gets your nerves revved up!  You can also take an Advil or ibuprofen 30 minutes before your appointment.
  • Should I do anything special before a bikini wax? Make sure that the hair is the correct length.  The hair must be between ¼ of an inch and ½ of an inch, or long enough to lie down on the skin. It can’t be stubbly or long and puffy. If it is any longer than ½ of an inch, please trim the hair. Note:  A good rule of thumb is to what until you have at least two weeks of growth after shaving the area.  Please refrain from using an electric trimmer on the bikini area prior to the appointment. It makes the hair more difficult to remove.
  • Is there anything I should avoid after a waxing appointment?  Don’t use your shower loofah, or do any rough scrubbing for at least 3 days afterward.  If you come in contact with direct sunlight then please use SPF 45.  It is also best to not get in a tanning bed for a few days.
  • What should I wear? You can leave your underwear on or off during the treatment, whatever makes you feel the most comfortable.
  • How often should I get my bikini area waxed? Every three to four weeks is recommended.
